25-07-07 - Flood Damaged Hard Disks
Affected by recent floods?InSectors Advice on what to do with a Wet Hard drive.
1. Carefully remove the drive from the computer.
2. Place the drive somewhere to dry (e.g. lie the drive on an absorbent surface to remove water) Green side (the circuit board) side down.
3. Do NOT apply power to the drive, this is extremely dangerous unless you are 100% sure that the drive is dry and free of sediment. This is especially important for the area between the circuit board and drive case.
