Clean rooms are used in
many industries where environmental variables such as
temperature, humidity, airborne contaminates and even
light can be detrimental to processes and procedures
for manufacturing and repair of sensitive electronic
components.
The clean room must be constructed of sealed materials
to prevent migration of contaminants such as volatiles
from adhesives and particulate matter. The rooms have
high-end filtration systems and air management equipment
that in all cases create positive air pressure inside
the chamber. These hard drive clean rooms can cost in
excess of £750,000 to construct and equip.
These rooms are a necessary facility in the data recovery
industry because of the close tolerance mechanisms found
inside the latest hard disk cavity. The diagram here
shows relative proportions of these tolerances.
Clean room classifications are standardised classes
based on airborne particle counts. For example, a class
100 clean room can have 750 particles per cubic foot
that measure 0.2 µm, 300 at 0.3 µm and so
on. Constant monitoring and maintenance of the environment
is obviously an important aspect of this technology.

Data Recovery UK Limited offers in-house clean room
environments that meet or exceed requirements for all
hard drive procedures at all our data recovery labs
worldwide. |
