Tape Recovery |
| It is a common practice to back up systems
to tape drives. They are fast, convenient and hold multiple
gigabytes. However, tapes can be written wrong, have early
end of data markers, or become corrupt over an extended
period of time. Data Recovery UK has recovered tapes that
have become corrupt due to many situations including:
|
| Physical damage |
| Water damaged tapes |
| Smoke or Chemical Damaged Tapes |
| Broken Tapes |
| Back up Failures |
| Overwritten Tapes |
| Intentionally damaged tapes |
|
| Data Recovery UK has developed
its own software in its research and development lab to
access more data off of tapes than ever before. Our in-house
programmers are constantly upgrading and generating new
recovery software to help better serve you. Out technicians
are trained in recovery from many tape formats, including: |
| 4mm |
| DAT, DDS, DDS2, DDS3, DDS4 |
| 8mm Quantum and DLT tapes |
| Seagate AIT, OnStream, ADR and Travan
tapes |
| QIC mini cartridge tapes |
| Reel-to-reel data tapes |
| 9-track tape recovery and conversion |
½" tape reels |
| ¼" Cartridge |
|
Data Recovery UK will thoroughly
examine your tape for any kind of damage, whether it
is physical or logical, before any attempt is made to
recover the data. Our first concern is to secure a copy
of your data to the fullest extent possible; this can
be achieved by performing a low-level read of your tape.
We will then work from a secure copy of your data to
identify the format and determine what utility will
be needed to complete the recovery.
After determining what steps will be necessary to complete
your recovery, we will contact you to approve your recovery.
No work will be done without your approval. As soon
as you approve the recovery, our technicians will continue
with the recovery effort, and validate the data and
place it on a suitable replacement media.
